Anti-Aliasing Filters for Dynamics and Control Experiments.

Abstract

In an effort to test and evaluate various system identification concepts, the AFAL has designed and constructed a lightly damped aluminum grid structure. The idea is to vibrate the grid with a known input force, measure the sensed output, and compare the modal frequencies and shapes predicted by various identification methods with the actual modal data. In order to accurately obtain the actual modal data, the measured grid output must pass through signal conditioning electronics. This report entails the design of a 16 channel 6th order butterworth anti-aliasing filter utilized as part of the signal conditioning electronics for the grid structure. Keywords: Anti-aliasing, Butterworth filters, Vibration analysis, Low pass.
