Gaseous Polymer Solutions: Solubilities of Polydimethylsiloxane and Polypropylene in Carbon Dioxide and Viscosities of Polydimethylsiloxane in Carbon Dioxide.

Abstract

Polydimethylsiloxane is soluble in carbon dioxide in the weight fraction PMDS approx. 0.026 to approx. 0.33, pressure approx. 80 to approx. 450 atm, and 35 to 80C temperature region. Polypropylene is soluble in carbon dioxide in the weight fraction PP approx. 0.062 to approx. 0.33, pressure approx. 440 to approx. 950 atm, and 165 to 190C temperature region. Solutions to PMDS at 0.26 weight fraction in carbon dioxide have viscosities in the 3.8 to 7.4 centipoise range.
