Integration of LANTIRN (Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night) into Operational Fighter Training.

Abstract

The introduction of the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) system on the F-15E and F-16C/D aircraft will result in increased night flying. Quality of life issues and safety concerns have been raised in response to an increase of night training. The study proposes seven tenets that, when applied with effective scheduling, enhance quality of life and flight safety at LANTIRN designated bases. The study concludes that LANTIRN can be successfully integrated into the Tactical Air Forces. Keywords: Job scheduling; Watch(Duty); Air force planning; Air force training; Flight training.
