Boron-Nitride and Its Precursors.

Abstract

Formation of preceramic polymers by stepwise pyrolysis of borazines was found to be strongly dependent upon the ring substituents. Boron nitride fibers were obtained via preceramic polymers produced from B-triaminio-N-tris(trimethylsilyl)borazine. Studies were carried out to determine the suitability of linear boron-nitrogen composition as preceramic polymer precursors. The mechanisms responsible for the observed results are delineated.
