Solid-State Eyesafe Laser Systems in the 1.5 - 2.1 Micrometer Region.

Abstract

Solid-state laser materials for the eyesafe region of 1.5 - 2.1 micrometers are reviewed. Laser materials include erbium and holmium in a variety of hosts, as well as Raman shifted lasers. Compatible detectors, including Ge, InGaAs, and InGaAsP, are reviewed. Several commercial and military applications are identified.
