Looking for a Fight.

Abstract

The helicopter is acknowledged as a significant ground force multiplier. Now that the helicopter is air-to-air (ATA) capable and essentially all night/weather/mission capable, it has become a significant air force multiplier. What are the threat and friendly plans for its integration into the counter air plan and what has been done as of 1988 to incorporate these capabilities by the US Army, US Air Force, and the threat? The paper reaches numerous conclusions and makes several recommendations to correct doctrine and the operational employment of these new assets by the US Army and US Air Force.
