Ireland and the Defense of Western Europe. Issues and Implications.

Abstract

This thesis analyzes the factors contributing to the formation of Irish foreign and defense policies as well as the geostrategic value of the Island of Ireland. Speculation is also made as to the likely defense posture the Irish Republic might assume in time of war in Western Europe. Keywords: Foreign policy; Strategic value of Ireland; Neutralism.
