Combined Reflection and Diffraction by a Vertical Wedge.

Abstract

This report presents an analytical solution for the combined wave reflection and diffraction by a vertical wedge, of arbitrary wedge angle, subject to the excitation of a plane simple harmonic wave train coming from a far field. Results of two special cases are calculated: one a thin semi-infinite breakwater and the other a wedge of 90-deg angle. The results are presented in amplification factor diagrams. A subroutine WEDGE is also documented in the appendix. The subroutine can be used to calculate the case of arbitrary wedge angle. Keywords: Breakwaters, Numerical analysis, Water waves.
