Symposium on Electroactive Polymers, ACS National Meeting (193rd).

Abstract

This international symposium focused on the nonlinear optical properties of organic molecules and conjugated polymers, an exciting area of research clearly at the fore front because of the tremendous interest in optical signal processing and optical computing. This multidisciplinary symposium had participation from theoretical, physical and synthetic chemists, physicists and device engineers. It provided a forum for people from different backgrounds to interface their findings, to review the status of this area from microscopic understanding at one end, to device fabrication at the other end, and to formulate future directions.
