Ada (Trade Name) Compiler Validation Summary Report: SofTech, Inc., Ada86 Version 1.34, VAX 11/780 and 11/785 Hosts, Intel iAPX 80186 Target

Abstract

This Validation Summary Report describes the extent to which a specific Ada compiler conforms to ANSI/MIL-STD-1815A FIPS PUB 119. This report explains all technical terms used within it and thoroughly reports the results of testing this compiler using the Ada Compiler Validation Capability (ACVC). Any implementation-dependent features must conform to the requirements of the Ada Standard. The entire Ada Standard must be implemented, and nothing can be implemented that is not in the Standard. Even though all validated Ada compilers conform to ANSI/MIL-STD-1815A FIPS PUB 119, it must be understood that some difference do exist between implementations. The Ada Standard permits some implementation dependencies--for example, the maximum length of identifiers or the maximum values of integer types. Other difference between compilers result from limitations imposed on a compiler by the operating systems and by the hardware. All of the dependencies demonstrated during the process of testing this compiler are given in the report. Validation Summary Reports are written according into a standardized format. The report for several different compilers may, therefore, be easily compared. The information in this report is derived from the test results produced during validation testing.
