Review of Preparation and Properties of Polymers from Copolymerization of Aprotic Acrylic Monomers with Protic Acrylic Monomers
Abstract
Selected literature on the preparation and properties of copolymers from aprotic acrylic monomers with protic acrylic monomers was reviewed. Emphasis was placed on monomers such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, alklaminoalkyl acrylate, and alkylaminoalkyl methacrylate. The resulting polymers were mostly hydrophilic and were usually water-soluble polyelectrolytes. High molecular weight polymers and their properties are also emphasized in this review. Keywords: Acrylic acid, Methacrylic acid, 1-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, Alkyl acrylate, Alkyl methacrylate, Styrene, Alkylaminoalkyl acrylate, Alklyaminoalkyl methacrylate, Acrylamide, Emulsion polymerization, Solution polymerization, Bulk polymerization, Molecular weight, Molecular weight distribution, Glass transition temperature, Reactivity ratio, Viscosity, Copolymerization, Polyelectrolyte.
