Survey of Image Restoration Techniques
Abstract
This survey of image restoration techniques presents a concise overview of the most useful restoration methods. Linear spatially invariant and linear spatially variant image restoration techniques are described and the strengths and weaknesses of each approach are identified. Examples of restored images for the various techniques are given. To provide guidelines for choosing a restoration technique for a particular application, a comparison of the techniques is made. The restoration methods are compared and evaluated based on the following circuit: restored image visual quality, performance in the presence of additive image-independent noise, degree of a priori knowledge required, and computational complexity.
