Abstract

Ecology and Environment, Inc., was retained by the USAFOEHL/TSS to provide technical and analytical services in support of the Air Force IRP. These services were applied to the Phase II, Stage 1, investigation of Reese AFB, Lubbock, Texas. The field investigation was conducted from June 24, 1986 to October 31, 1986, and involved work at nine areas at the base. The investigation included records searches, geophysical studies, and sampling of surface and subsurface soils, groundwater and surface water. Samples were analyzed for various parameters including volatile organics, oil and grease, pesticides, herbicides, petroleum hydrocarbons, primary metals, phenols, PCBs, and polynuclear aromatic hydro-carbons. Results of the investigation indicated that past waste handling and disposal practices had caused various degrees of soil and groundwater contamination.
