Survey of AMC (Army Materiel Command) Owned Computer Aided Production Systems.

Abstract

This 1988 Survey of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) equipment updates Army Materiel Command CIM equipment data in all funding categories for FY80-88 and planning years FY89-92. Report data synopsized to reflect AMC accomplishments during the FY80-88 period and is broken down to show equipment/investment data for nine AMC Major Subordinate Commands. Report coverage lists 745 separate systems with more than 800 applications eg., Computer Aided Design/Engineering/Manufacture (CAD/CAE/CAM) and total acquisition value of 428.8 million dollars. Report assumes investment baseline of 39 million dollars as of FY79 with growth to current FY88 amount of 428.8 and planned growth during FY89-92 of another 20 million for a FY92 total of approximately 450 million dollars. Reported systems include all CIM equipment categories and stand-alone Computer Numeric Control machines, the preponderance of which are planned for conversion/upgrade to Distributed Numeric Control.
