Structural Mechanics: Contemporary State and Prospects for Development (Selected Portions)

Abstract

In recent years, are published many works on structural mechanics and its application to calculation of structures, aircraft, ships and machines. However, among these investigations are still insufficient works of survey character, which give representation about the level of the interesting U.S. field of science as a whole. Survey/coverage in no way pretends to completeness; authors paid the main attention to those works which were close to their scientific interests. Such sections are examined in detail of structural mechanics as the theory of the elastoplastic calculation of constructions, statistical dynamics and the theory of the reliability of constructions, mechanics of constructions from the composite materials. A special chapter is dedicated to the application of electronic computers in structural mechanics. Russian translations.
