Analysis of Stresses and Force Resultants in Oblong Conduits under Uniformly Distributed Loads

Abstract

Finite element techniques were used to evaluate the stresses and force resultants in oblong reinforced concrete conduits. Steel ratios were varied. The analyses showed that the presence of steel has little effect on the force resultants but does influence the stress distribution in the vicinity of the reinforcement. Tables of moment, thrust, and shear parameters for two shapes are included.
