United States Coast Guard (USCG) SSAMPS (Standard Semi-Automatic Message Processing System) Upgrade Network Studies Functional Analysis and Cost Report

Abstract

The U.S. Coast Guard distributes unclassified record messages throughout each District using a wide area network called the Standard Semi Automatic Message Processing System (SSAMPS). Currently the interface between SSAMPS and AUTODIN is by paper tape. This study investigated the technical risks and cost associated with directly connecting SSAMPS to AUTODIN. The report concluded that the interface was technically possible and identified a cost of $1.1M to prototype one district. Keywords: Functional analysis, Cost estimates, Network analysis(Management).
