Biodegradation of Guanidinium Ion in Aerobic Soil Samples

Abstract

Biodegradation of guanidinium can be rapid and extensive in soils at low concentrations. With increased loading, the fraction of input guanidinium decreases significantly. Higher concentrations will, however, degrade upon prolonged incubation. Guanidinium degradation can vary in different soils and can be stimulated by a carbon source.
