Determination of Precipitable Water with the AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer)

Abstract

A method os presented to estimate the ratio of the transmittances in the two channels of the AVHRR split window. This method uses only the radiances and requires no a priori information. Precipitable water estimates from the AVHRR are compared with those estimated from radiosondes. Reprint.
