An Interactive Program for Estimating Extinction and Scattering Properties of Most Particulate Clouds

Abstract

An interactive computer program is described that enables the user to calculate the phase function, extinction, scattering and absorption efficiencies, the mass extinction coefficient and backscatter to extinction ratio for most particulate clouds. These clouds may be composed of either mono- or polydispersed particles of the following geometries: sphere, coated sphere, infinite cylinder, coated infinite cylinder, finite cylinder or various irregular shapes. The non-spherical regular shapes may be either oriented or have random orientation. Australia.
