On Sequential Ranking and Selection Procedures

Abstract

This report describes some sequential selection procedures for selecting the normal population having the largest mean, and for selecting the Bernoulli population having the largest success probability, with emphasis on recent developments. Both the indifference zone and subset approaches are discussed. Some results for the exponential family including a decision theoretic approach are also described. Keywords: Open, closed and truncated sequential procedures, Indifference zone, Subset selection, Normal, Bernoulli, Exponential family, Vector-at-a-time sampling, Adaptive.
