Tip Clearance Signal Processor Development

Abstract

A signal processing system was designed and constructed to detect peaks of the Vatell eddy current clearance sensor signal, measure their amplitude and timing, and compute a correction for machine speed to indicate clearance and time arrival for individual blades of a turbomachine. The system is based on an ADPIBM301 plug-in for the PC/XT, and consists of a second plug- in, along with software for signal detection and processing. Tests on a Pratt & Whitney
