Digital Beam Steering Antenna

Abstract

A study and evaluation was made of self-calibration techniques applicable to an elemental receiver, digital beamforming receive array requiring precise pattern control (low sidelobes, adaptive nulling, and large dynamic range). A test bed, C-Band, 32-element line array incorporating a novel loop calibration concept was designed and implemented. The test bed array includes 32 elemental receivers with I and Q digital outputs; the array will be used in experiments evaluating the effectiveness of the self-calibration technique.
