Safety Testing of Dengue-1 and Dengue-3 Seeds for Human Challenges, Unattenuated. Dengue Virus Type 4

Abstract

Dengue Virus Type 4 (CARIB 341750), Challenged Seed, non-attenuated, Lot No. 2 of Jan 1986 was safety tested in accordance with the guidelines established by the FDA for live and inactivated vaccines. The Tissue Culture Purity (Safety) tests were unsatisfactory due to the use of a hyperimmune rabbit antiserum that was subsequently found to readily hemagglutinate guinea pig RBC suggesting the presence in the serum of the a hemagglutinating agent(s).
