Computer Software Used in U.S. Army Anthropometric Survey 1987-1988

Abstract

This report describes the hardware and software used in the 1987-1988 anthropometric survey of the U.S. Army. It includes a background section outlining how anthropometric data can be edited mathematically, and how such editing has been done in surveys of the past. It then describes the data entry and editing software which was created especially for the 1987-1988 survey, and how that software is based on historically proven techniques. Programs which randomly select subjects for measurement from among those who are screened and which calculate inter-observer measurement error are also described. The appendices include a self-contained hardware/software user's guide, and complete program listings for all software used in the survey.
