FORTRAN Programs for Aerodynamic Analyses on the Microvax/2000 CAD CAE Workstation

Abstract

This thesis describes the conversion of four computer programs on the Naval Postgraduate School IBM 3033AP computer system and their implementation of the MicroVax/2000 CAD/CAE workstation. The existing 2-D airfoil analysis programs DUBLET and PANEL were extensively modified to improve the user interface. The 3-D wing analysis program VORLAT also received an updated interface. The JETFLAP source program no longer resided on the NPS mainframe and was reconstructed from an original source tape and program listing. This program was then converted from FORTRAN IV for the CDC 6000 series computers to FORTRAN 77 for use on the IBM mainframe and the MicroVax/2000. An interactive data input program. JETFLAPIN, was developed to simplify data input, provide error checking and correction and thereby enhance the utilization of the JETFLAP program. The programs are intended for use by students in basic and advanced courses in aerodynamics at the Naval Postgraduate School, however they are also applicable to a course in computational aerodynamics.
