Simulation Study of Traffic Flow At a Three Way Intersection

Abstract

This study develops computerized simulation models for the evaluation of the traffic performance at a three way intersection with no signal. In particular, the models were designed to test and to evaluate the wartime road capacity of the current and a proposed road system in the Korean theater. The models describe how traffic at the road intersection will vary with changes to the input variables and priority rules. An analysis is performed to compare performance measures of the intersection given various traffic conditions. Specifically, the analysis will enable an efficient modification of the roads or an appropriate road usage plan in wartime.
