Mutagenic Potential of Permethrin in the Drosophila Melanogaster Sex-Linked Recessive Lethal Test

Abstract

Permethrin, an insecticide/repellant being considered by the military for impregnating the military Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) and for use in packing of Meal Ready (MRE), was assayed for mutagenicity by using the sex-Linked Recessive Lethal test in Drosophila melanogaster. Permethrin was determined to be non-mutagenic under conditions of this study. Key words: Toxicology.
