Global Scientific and Technical Information Network

Abstract

This paper describes the foundations for a global scientific and technical information network which is currently under development at the Defense Applied Information Technology Center (DAITC). The paper highlights advances in information technology which are creating an environment where networking and interoperability strategies are possible on a global basis. Applied information technology modules which have been created to support the Global Scientific and Technical Information Network are described. The network is purposefully designed to incorporate both end-users and their information management intermediaries in a complementary manner making them resolute partners in the work and its rewards.
