Finite Element-Galerkin Approximation of the Eigenvalues of Eigenvectors of Selfadjoint Problems

Abstract

This paper establishes some refined estimates for the approximation of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of selfadjoint eigenvalue problems by finite element or, more generally, Galerkin methods. Suppose lambda is an eigenvalue of multiplicity q of a selfajoint problem and let M(lambda) denote the space of eigenvectors corresponding to lambda. Keywords: Hilbert space.
