Implementation of a Quality Assurance Program in a United States Army Medical Treatment Facility

Abstract

This study explored the evolution of the Quality Assurance Program through standards established by the Joint Commission on Accreditation and Professional Standards Review Organization. The study identified the initial overall reluctance by the medical profession, but the necessity to establish a mechanism of retrospective review of health care provisions by the practitioners. It provided an applicable approach to the establishment of programs within the military medical treatment facilities.
