A Study to Develop an Improved Organizational Structure for the Provision of Administrative Support for the Delivery of Health Care at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop an improved organizational structure for administrative support at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. The author conducted extensive interviews with administrators at Fitzsimons and other hospitals and found the current administrative support structure inadequate. The organization lacked formal methods for cooperation in problem solving. It was essentially reactive in nature with no potential for proactive problem solving, innovation, or goal setting. The author proposes a revised administrative organization which includes placing the Clinical Support Division under the Executive Officer.
