Youth Attitude Tracking Study II, Wave 18 -- Fall 1987. Supplementary Tabulations

Abstract

The Department of Defense must understand the backgrounds, attitudes, and motivations of young men and women, and their intentions to serve in the military to effectively target recruiting efforts. The Youth Attitude Tracking Study II (YATS II) provides data on these issues. YATS II is a reconfigured survey begun in 1983 that merges information from the former YATS and the non- prior service portion of the Reserve Component Attitude Study (RCAS) into a single study. Consistent with past YATS surveys, eligible individuals had no prior or current military service and were not beyond the second year of college. Analyses are based on interviews from 5,642 young males, 1,103 older males, 3,448 young females, and 1,078 older females.
