Subsistence and Settlement at Rathbun Reservoir Area in South Central Iowa

Abstract

Approximately, 155 miles of shoreline were surveyed and 31 sites were tested for National Register significance. Artifacts were located at 104 beach locations (findspots). Only 8 findspots were of sufficient size and density to warrant site numbers. With the exception of one site, no subsurface materials were recovered. A 30 percent survey of eight public use areas yielded no new information on the location of upland and hill slope sites.
