Archaeological Inventory and Evaluation at Milford, Melvern and Pomona Lakes, Eastern Kansas

Abstract

Archeological survey and site testing were conducted at the Melvern, Milford, and Pomona Lake Projects located in the Prairie-Plains of eastern Kansas. Melvern and Pomona Lakes are on the Marais des Cygnes River, a subbasin of the Osage River Drainage. Milford is in the Republican River Valley. At Pomona Lake, an investigation was conducted in areas normally underwater which were exposed during a drawdown period to determine the effects of inundation on known sites. Sites identified at all projects were evaluated for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places.
