Back to Basics: Mahan for the 1990s

Abstract

Analysis of views of RADM Alfred T. Mahan on naval strategy and the conditions that affect sea power, and its relevance to maritime strategy and sea power today. Author concludes that sea control is essential to forward defense and that peacetime support of Navy and civilian maritime industry are necessary for the deterrence of war.
