Fire-Retardant Officer/CPO Work Uniform.

Abstract

The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) evaluated potential fire-retardant (FR) candidate replacement fabrics for the Navy's 65/35 polyester/cotton poplin khaki shirt and twill trouser fabrics for application in all Officer and CPO khaki shipboard work uniforms. Based on laboratory and wear test data, the most reasonable option for a fire-retardant Officer/CPO work uniform is the 100% fire-retardant-treated cotton (pre-condensate/ammonia cure treatment) shirt and trouser ensemble. Keywords: Fire-retardant shipboard work uniform; Fire-retardant-treated cotton; Physical material characteristics; Appearance properties; Burn-injury characteristics; Fire protective clothing. (kt)
