Atlas/Data Abstract for the United States and Selected Areas: Fiscal Year 1988

Abstract

This publication is devoted entirely to information on DoD personnel, payroll outlays, and prime contracts over $25,000. Information in this statistical abstract table is for the most part provided according to Military Department with a total for 'Other Defense Activities'. Personnel information includes active duty military, direct hire civilian, Reserve and National Guard personnel, and active duty and civilian dependents ( in foreign countries). Payroll outlays and prime contract awards over $25,000 are combined to provide an indication of total expenditures for each state. These data are also broken down by type of payroll and category of contract, respectively. In addition, the following information is provided for each state: (1) Ten locations where the largest expenditures are made and the most personnel are located; (2) Total prime contract awards over $25,000 for the past three fiscal years; and (3) The top five contractors, their total awards, major area of work, and dollar value associated with the major area of work.
