Chemical Preparation Laboratory for IND Candidate Compounds
Abstract
During the reporting period twenty-one compounds were synthesized and submitted for testing Most of these compounds are derivatives of ribavirin or tiazofurin modified in their sugar or heterobase portion. One group of compounds are triazole heterobases with various substituents, while another group is derived from phenanthridone as the skeletal structure. A major effort was dedicated to the large-scale preparation of ribavirin amidine hydrochloride. Compounds which remain under investigation are selenazole, thioformycin B, prodrug ester, and carbonitrile to amidine conversion studies.
