Handbook for Repairing Nonconventional Roofing Systems
Abstract
As built-up roofs (BURs) on Army facilities wear out, many are being replaced with nonconventional roofing systems. Problems can arise when a roof mechanic uses a repair procedure appropriate for a BUR to repair a defect in one of the newer nonconventional roofing systems. This handbook provides illustrated repair procedures for nonconventional roofing, including single-ply elasto- plastics, modified bitumens, and sprayed-in-place polyurethane foam. Information in this manual applies to all Army installations that have facilities with nonconventional roofing systems needing emergency or permanent repair. Routine maintenance and inspection procedures are not included.
