A Database Management System for Computer-Aided Digital Circuit Design

Abstract

This thesis effort documents the design and implementation of a relational database and associated database management system (DBMS) for the AFIT digital circuit design environment, a graphics oriented tool that allows circuits to be designed at a uniform, chip-level of detail, checked for proper connections, and simulated. The approach to this effort included a survey of existing methods of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) data management, analysis of the data and data manipulation requirements of the design environment, design of a data manipulation language, and implementation of a DBMS to carry out the manipulations.
