Proceedings: USACERL/ASCE First Joint Conference on Expert Systems, 29-30 June 1988

Abstract

This conference was jointly organized by the U.S . Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (USACERL) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). It was hosted by USACERL during June 29-30, 1988 in Champaign, Illinois. The purpose of the conference was to exchange information on current research trends and developments in the area of expert systems. Some of the papers dealt with expert systems in general; others focused on how these systems relate to various aspects of civil engineering. Due to the brevity of the conference, several worthy papers could not be included in the conference program. A section has been added to these Proceedings, containing extended abstracts that were not selected for presentation but recommended for publication by the reviewing committee. Keywords: Abstracts, Computer applications, Computer aided design.
