Installation, Maintenance, Operation, and Development Support for a Prototype Seismic Data Center. Phase 3

Abstract

This report summarizes the activities and work performed at the Center for Seismic Studies. The objectives of this final phase were to continue the routine cataloging and building of the databases and support development of the data management seismic data analysis techniques. The objective of receiving and storing seismic data were met as the databases increased in volume from the routine processing accomplished by the analysts and the operational staff. The primary configuration changes to the systems during this phase were to move the satellite antenna from the Alexandria Laboratory facility to the roof of the Center in Rosslyn, Virginia. Another satellite antenna was installed to accept real-time data transmitted from the NORESS array. The installation of these antennae took considerable effort and co-ordination. Keywords: RSTN(Regional Seismic Test Network); VAX Computers.
