Abstract

This is an unclassified version of the FY 1988 Annual Report of the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation. The original, classified version of this report was submitted to the Secretary of Defense and the House and Senate Committees on Armed Services and on Appropriations on 19 January 1989 pursuant to the provisions of Section 138, Title 10, U.S. Code. This unclassified version has been published in order to promote wider understanding of the role of operational testing in the development and acquisition of effective and affordable weapon systems.
