Abstract

This document provides the reader with the information and perspective necessary to incorporate embedded training (ET) considerations into acquisition documentation. An overview of the Army systems acquisition process is presented, the relationships among the various documents of the acquisition process are described, and the relevant ET considerations at each phase, for each document, are specified. Detailed guidance for incorporating ET considerations and requirements into specific acquisition documents is provided. Recommendations are made for the development of Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) to consideration throughout systems design and acquisition are included. The document also provides recommendations and guidance for developing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for acquiring the ET component of a prime item system, including examples of statements addressing ET requirements for the State of Work (SOW) and System Specification sections of the RFP.
