Department of Defense (DoD) Acronym List II,

Abstract

This acronym list is, fundamentally, an index of meanings for acronyms and other abbreviations in common use throughout the Department of Defense. It is, however, more comprehensive than that since it is also a collection of many names of weapons, ships, aircraft, vehicles, important but obscure personalities, easily forgotten places, partially remembered incidents, NATO designations, and other nomenclature and titles about which some helpful bit of information may be found. Indeed, ZIP Code two-letter designations for all the States of the Union are included in case the need arises to complete an address or to recognize one. Some entries are no more than a duplication of information appearing elsewhere. Others, however, are more enlightening because they provide a key to material further describing a LIST entry. The latter type is often a multiple entry which points to a variety of descriptive information found in more than one cited source. Keywords: Acronyms; Nomenclature; Abbreviations; Symbols; Mnemonics; Code names/Identifiers. (EDC)
