Case Technology and the Systems Development Life Cycle: A Proposed Integration of Case Tools with DoD STD-2167A

Abstract

The use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) t ools has been marketed as a remedy for the software development crisis by automating analysis, design, and coding. The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) has been employed in an attempt to ease the development backlog by applying structured methods to the development of software systems. This study reviews CASE tool components and the future of CASE integrated toolkits, compares and SDLC with the Defense System Software Development standard - DoD STD-2167A, and proposes a means for integrating CASE tools into the DoD STD-2167A system development life cycle.
