Total Contracts for Major Systems

Abstract

With the dearth of funds projected for military procurement over the next five to ten years and the annual battle between the legislative and executive branches of government over the defense budget; the Army must find a way of getting the most for its scarce dollars. By contracting for the total requirements on selected major systems we can reduce the costs of these system and take them out of the political arena. In addition, we can use better methods to select and justify these systems. This study seeks to look into these areas ant provide methodology which will stimulate the reader to select new and better ways to use the acquisition process.
