Optimum Design Methods for Structural Sandwich Panels

Abstract

This report contains a software program for the optimum design of sandwich panels. This program calculates the minimum weight design of sandwich beams and plates subject to stiffness and/or strength constraints. The program has been designed to run on an IBM PC compatible computer. The analysis performed by the program is described together with a complete listing of program. The program is available on diskette which interested users may obtain from Professor Lorna Gibson at MIT. Keywords: Advanced construction materials; Structural composites; Sandwich panels; Building materials; Composite materials.
