Provision of CT Scanning Capability to VA/DoD (Veterans Administration/ Department of Defense) Health Care Facilities through a Shared Mobile CT Unit: A Feasibility Study

Abstract

This study examined the feasibility of providing CT scanning capability to Veterans Administration and Department of Defense Health Care Facilities through a shared mobile CT unit. This study found a significant financial benefit over two fixed CT Scanner units at every demand level tested. The author cautioned against the drawbacks such as the scanning unit or transportation failure, but concluded exceptional benefits even taking the drawbacks into account.
